Hi, I'm currently creating a fan expansion for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game and I wondered if I could use your picture to illustrate one of the cards? I love the moodiness of the image and think you've put a lot of character in his eye.

Obviously I'd give you full credit for the painting and provide a link back to this webpage.

Thank you, but no. Using my painting to illustrate another picture is not a good idea. Don't do that.

No problem, thanks for taking the time to get back to me.

Just to be clear, I never suggested using your painting to 'illustrate another picture' - I'm not even sure how that would work so perhaps this is just something that's been lost in translation. I'm sorry I don't speak Turkish!

Let me first say that this is an excellent piece of work; I think it captures the spirit of the Dwarves very, very well, and I've favorited this piece because of its quality.  I must say that, I don't believe that Dwarves (or anyone else) in Middle-earth had plate-mail such as the kind you've illustrated here.  I do believe chain mail (for the dwarves) and scale armor (for the elves) was as advanced as they got.  I believe humans made use of both varieties, but as far as I know, Tolkien deliberately avoided using or making reference to plate mail, because he didn't want to (specifically) invoke the "Middle-ages."  He wanted to keep his stories timeless, and scale and chain armor have been around for thousands of years.  That being said, this is still a kick-ass piece of artwork, so don't take my little gripe too seriously.

Hi, Thanks a lot for this great comment. I haven't thought about the armor designs in Tolkien's world this way before. Your comment was really enlightening, thank you for that. Tolkien's dwarves weren't my goal while I was painting this piece, first I planned to paint a leather armor. Then changed to a plate armor. Just to practice metal texture.
If I plan to design a dwarf or another warrior from Tolkien's universe, I'll keep your words in my mind :)
Glad you liked my painting, and thanks again for this enlightening comment.
